RAS IMSP delegation at 4th Congress of Young Scientists
Delegation of the Institute of Machine Science Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences represented by graduate students Kolesnik Nikita, Sedova Yulia, Vorobyov Maxim, as well as V.S. Redkova Alexei, took part in the IV Congress of Young Scientists, held November 27-29, 2024 in Sochi. Congress gathered under one roof thousands of participants from various fields - from science and business to education and the state apparatus. Among those present, one could meet both famous scientists who are among the most cited researchers in the world, as well as schoolchildren and students who are just starting their journey in science.
The event had a diverse program: dozens of stands, reports, lectures and even entertainment activities. Congress is, first of all, a platform where you can track the vectors of the development of scientific thought and the main trends of modern science, find common ground between related industries, establish connections and share experience with colleagues.
Traditionally meetings at the Congress are held in a variety of industries, from social sciences and humanities to quantum technologies and genetic engineering. According to the organizers, up to 12 events took place at the same time, which allowed everyone to find something interesting for themselves.
Of particular importance this year was the international and official component. In 2024, the Congress was combined with the BRICS Forum, thanks to which a significant part of the lectures and meetings was devoted to international cooperation. According to the organizers, representatives of more than 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America took part, and the total number of participants exceeded 7,000 people.
Alexey Redkov, Chairman of the RAS IMSP Council of Young Scientists, took part in organizing a number of sections, including making a scientific report “From Atom to Crystal: How AI and Supercomputers Help Grow Materials for Electronics” at the stand of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“For myself I marked out the session “Everything for Science - in One Click: New Digital Services for Scientists from Scientists Themselves”, which was attended by the founders of the Colab.ws and NASHA LABA projects, as well as the director of the AI Center for Science from Sberbank. Thanks to her I learned about new digital tools and services, which, I confess, I had previously heard about, but now I plan to use in my work. In addition, the session addressed important issues regarding the use of “digital twins” in engineering, which is also directly related to my work profile.
Also at the Congress there was a large poster exhibition of achievements, developments and startups of the largest companies, leading universities and research teams from almost all regions of the country. To be aware of new trends allows not only to evaluate innovative solutions, but also to be inspired and look at your own problems from a new angle.”
“I'm very impressed by the Congress! First of all, I remember the unity between the participants - everyone is responsive and friendly. You can see the burning eyes and sharp mind of young people, and, I hope, such events will contribute to the development of national science. I’ve attended a large number of lectures and master classes. In general, participation in such events is insanely inspiring!”
