The key event of the second day of the IV Congress of Young Scientists (November 28) is the plenary session "Science for technological leadership and response to global challenges: people, ideas, cooperation" (moderator - Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko). Among the speakers is Mikhail Presnyakov, Head of the Office for the Creation of the SILA Research Facility, who spoke about the progress in creating the future flagship of the Russian mega-class science system.
In particular, M. Presnyakov stressed that one of the results of this work is the formation of new collaborations of Russian scientists and engineers to solve many private problems within the framework of the large project. Especially for it a special digital service made jointly with the Kurchatov Institute in 2024 is created - the "Custom work" module within the framework of the NASHA LABA project.
- In a short time we need to create more than a hundred high-tech units and components fundamentally different from existing analogues. This module will help organize R&D - create collaboration for a task. You need to upload your terms of reference - and the NASHA LABA users will send you their suggestions. And even when you have already created your collaboration, you will probably need those people who respond for the next project.
President of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk emphasized the strategic importance of the mega-class science development program: "This is not a project of individuals or institutions - this is a country's project based on a deep understanding of its extreme necessity! All the most advanced discoveries are done thanks to these mega-class installations. Their creation moves science to a new level unattainable today".
The topic of cooperation - but already international - became the main one and at one more session – "International science in a changing world". It was about new areas of scientific contacts, the prospects for interaction on the SCO, BRIS, OCEAN platforms, and the best practices of scientific diplomacy. Thus, the head of the Kurchatov complex of synchrotron-neutron research, Chairman of the CorCouncil under the President of the Russian Federation Nikita Marchenkov noted the importance of horizontal international relations - at the level of associations of young scientists and cooperation around specific tasks. He also referred to the experience of the NASHA LABA project: "We decided to translate this service into the foreign languages for researchers of friendly countries we are now cooperating well with! Now we see prospects in this direction".
